EKSAMEN

How it works:

Starting with Dance to Your Own Tune, students as young as two, move through our Pre-Primary and Primary levels before moving on to Graded and Vocational Graded levels.

Examination

  • Graded syllabus: Grade 1 to Grade 8 incorporates ballet, free movement, and character, and is suitable for candidates from seven years (Grades 1–5) and eleven years (Grades 6–8).
  • Vocational Graded Syllabus: This develops the technique, music and performance skills of the older ballet student to an advanced level, preparing them for a dance or dance-related career.

Graded and Vocational Graded exams lead to recognised achievement at a high level in dance.

A real measure of achievement
These higher levels are accepted as a measure of achievement by the vocational schools attended by most young people aiming to enter the dance profession. They are also highly valued by universities and other HE institutions offering degree courses and programmes in the performing arts.

Other awards
A well as the more formal exams we also offer Class and Solo Performance Awards:

  • Class Awards are available from Pre-Primary in Dance to Grade 5. These are conducted by the teacher and assessment is less detailed than for exams, allowing candidates to demonstrate their progress and to receive feedback.
  • Solo Performance Awards are available at Grades 1–5. Candidates perform three solo dances; (one of which is freestyle and can be in any dance genre, not specifically ballet) giving them a chance to perform and express themselves whilst benchmarking their development.

All exams and awards are assessed externally by one of our panel of 200 examiners, appointed, trained and monitored by the RAD, and based in 25 countries around the world.

These forms are in Excel format and will automatically calculate your fees. If you have a MAC rather than a PC, you may find that the Word versions of the entry forms are more helpful.

Please note that these forms will not work on a tablet device (iPad etc.) - you need to use a computer to complete them.

  • choreographers to protect their copyright and as a reference for work-in-progress
  • dancers to learn their roles directly or through a notator
  • dance students to improve movement vocabulary and observation skills
  • dance teachers to read dances from the repertoire, plan classes, record choreography and study exercises in the RAD’s examination syllabi
  • dance notators (also known as Benesh Choreologists) within dance companies
  • dance companies to record and maintain repertoire works
  • opera and musical industry to record choreography for rehearsals and re-staging
  • film and TV industry to plan and record movement content
  • clinicians and physiotherapists to analyse patients’ movement, gait and posture.

This is a fun and friendly introduction to BMN, specifically tailored to the needs of RAD teachers but also others. Participants will learn how to locate information (such as head actions, port de bras, timing) within RAD syllabus scores and discover that it is not necessary to be able to read every aspect of BMN scores to be able to make use of them.

Starting with basic ballet positions, participants will develop immediately relevant reading and observational skills. As your knowledge develops to include a wider vocabulary of movement, you will discover how clearly the notated script conveys important information including precise paths of movement, floor plans, rhythmic nuances and other detail.

The course can be followed up by a online course for further knowledge

RAD SOMMERSKOLE - Attic i Drammen 2019

Sommerskolen 2019

Dato: 6. – 10. August 2019

Tider

  • Registrering: fra kl. 09:00 – 11:00, 6. august
  • 1.klasse starter kl. 12:00, 6. august
  • Visning for foreldre: kl. 16:00, 10. August
  • Avsluttes: kl. 18:00, 10 august
Sommerskole for ballettelever

Åpen for alle elever:

HVORFOR BLI MEDLEM I RAD?

ROYAL ACADEMY OF DANCE
